Barnaby Wills works mostly with the medium of painting. Wills considers his work to be respectful of tradition and history whilst at the same time wanting to engage with the contemporary art debate. The work focuses on the observation of certain subjects through the means of contextual experimentation and simplification. The subjects that are referenced are positioned to offer the audience a view into a world, and this way of creating a view into something real has been enhanced through the lens of the painting process. When exploring ideas and concepts the artist often frees himself from limitations and explores many possibilities for a piece of work intending to offer hope.

Taking care of the preparation for the creative process, the artist researches ideas and practical possibilities looking at what the world offers when we arrive at things. Wills is influenced by both the handling of observational limits and aesthetic gestures to present something that intends to appear as a kind of interface for society.
